About Me
Amy Siegel MA, MLS

I love working with students one-on-one because individualized attention can yield transformative results. I work with and admire "all kinds of minds." I am committed to helping students discover their strengths, values, and interests and to integrate such understandings into all the work we do. I coach secondary and college students among whom are those who identify as twice-exceptional. I teach advanced Orton-based reading strategies, structured grammar and style programs, critical reading and writing programs, and study/executive function skills.

I have worked as a university teacher of writing and literature, a middle and high school English teacher, a high school learning specialist, and a private academic and executive function coach. I have advanced degrees in English with a speciality "Theories of Teaching English" and also in Young Adult Librarianship. I am a graduate of the National Writing Program and I have extensive training in learning differences taught by leaders in the fields of Orton-Gillingham, Learning Differences, and Executive Function. I am a former board member of the DC International Dyslexia Association and a member of the Learning Disabilities Association. I am certified by Jodi Sleeper-Triplett's program in ADD Coaching.
